i bought a new fan, and it doesn’t fit. i have an intel core 2 duo, and it should be just like this, but it has holes for actual screws

Wow. This video makes such a simple procedure look and sound so complicated. This is *not* rocket science, people. But that being said, it does make for a decent tutorial for absolute beginners (provided they haven’t been scared out of performing their own CPU installations).

If I am changing my cpu but keeping same fan heatsink do I need to add thermal paste?

@1972FordF150 they made both 775 and 478 P4s, the 775 are overall a little faster, and they can be upgraded to at least a Core2Duo.

  14. Comment byDarknessKingCoH

@greatsmither depends on what brand and the other specs of the faster processor. Most circumstances it won’t change speeds too much, just a little bit.

would you think upgradeing from a 1.60 ghz to a 2.13 ghz prosssors would actually make a diffrence?

@antscustomcomputers Oh, Thanks for the info ! do they still make replacement 478 Pin celerons ? or do you have to get a used one ?

  23. Comment byantscustomcomputers

@1972FordF150 there are 478 and 775 P4 and Celeron CPU’s. But 775 is more expandable since there are Core2Duo, Core2Quad, Pentium Dual core, Pentium 4 EE, and so forth.

  24. Comment by1972FordF150

I thought the pentium 4 processors were 478 pin not 775 ? I know the P4 processor I have is 478 pin and I also have a 478 pin celeron. What gives here ?

Do most processors come with that fan/heatsink? I ordered a Pentium dual-core, I hope it’s included.
